Game controller
Does the 360 controller work with guildwars or not?

Why would you want to use the 360 controller? You'd have absolute shite functionality compared to the keyboard and mouse!

Numbers 1-8.
Letters A-Z.
Shift.
Control.
Alt.
Tab.
Enter.
Arrows.
Space.
Does the 360 controller have enough buttons for all those keys?

you can for certain builds
It doesn't work for every build, but in situations where you don't need to target allies or click on npcs or items (so you won't be monking with this setup, for example), you can pull it off. There is a program called pinnalce game profiler. It costs $20 to download off the net but it allows you to map keyboard keys to the buttons. I have room for these keys on the bar and I've had a fair amount of success with this setup.
left stick - q,e,r,s - similar to a straffing setup for a fps
left stick click - x
right stick - a,d
right stick click - f - target self
a,b,x,y,l1,l2,r1,r2 - skills 1-8 however you like to order them
back - alt
start - control
d pad - c, tab, t, spacebar - however you like to order them

GW was designed for use with a mouse and keyboard, so you should stick to those. If you don't like using the keyboard much, you can always buy a gaming mouse to which you can map keyboard keys to the programmable buttons.

Hmm I was curious about this too. I can imagine that a controller would be more comfortable to use (carpal tunnel?), and would work nicely with some builds like Orders necro and maybe even b/p ranger.

Maybe the topic starter just wanted to use it for some special moments, like lazy running around in pve with no real challenge, just laying in a couch using a wireless controller can be fun
Found a free tool for this some time ago, downloaded it to my HDD, haven't used it yet but I'm saving it for use later.

There's a simple (and free) app called Joy2Key that I've used before to map gamepads to keyboard.

I am utterly perplexed why someone would want to use such an inferior peripheral for a command-heavy game.
If you want to use your 360 controller so desperately; play a 360 game.
Seems to me alot of consolers get airy fairy ideas about the greatness of their systems and subsequent peripherals. Such as people asking if a 360 controller would be used on the PC version of TES4... Just get the 360 version!

The only good controler IMO was PSX's Dual Shock.

I have used the Belkin n50 and n52 SpeedPad with good results.
Currently using the n50 because of the simpler layout, Guild Wars really doesn't need much in the way of complexity from a controller.
